President’s Message
I hope everyone had a relaxing summer. It’s back to reality for the kids…schools in
session again. Let us all remember that
as we drive through the neighborhood, especially near Pinewood.
This month we will hold our Annual Meeting, September 16, at
7 PM in the Pinewood
Cafeteria. It will be a very informative
meeting. At this meeting new Board
Members will be elected and voting for potential Bylaws changes will be carried
out. The Board has done a great job at
recruiting and we are offering a full slate for the coming year. Please take a look at the proposed slate in
this edition and the proposed changes to the Bylaws.
We will have two representatives from the Maryland State
Fairgrounds speaking, Max Mosner, President and
General Manager and Andy Cashman, Assistant General
Manager. They will be discussing many
interesting things you may not have known about the fairgrounds and explaining
why they needed to request a zoning change during the Comprehensive Zoning Map
Process. I am sure you will learn a lot
about one of our largest neighbors.
We also will be introducing our improved website. It will allow us to keep in contact with any
member that contributes their email address for such things as emergency
information that is periodically sent to us through the Cockeysville Police
Department. You will be able to keep
informed in a user friendly format for current events and enjoy a photo section
from our community activities.
At this time we do not know if our efforts in battling the
rezoning of the Maryland State Fairgrounds to BR have been successful. We may know in time for the Annual Meeting
and will announce any information we have heard. I can tell you that the Board has spent a
great deal of time battling this and trying to come up with solutions that will
not hurt the fairgrounds but also will not hurt our community. We feel we have done this but have to wait to
see if the Councilmen agree.
At this time I would like to thank the Board Members that
have completed their terms, Carol Bacon, Mary Bonner, Susan Hyde and Bill Mackey.
Your help and dedication to the Board and your Community are
appreciated! I would also like to thank
Carol, Susan and Bill for having the fortitude to remain on the board for
another term. THANK YOU!
I trust many of you enjoyed watching the Olympics and
cheering for our great U.S.
athletes especially Baltimore’s
own Michael Phelps. Now begins the
football season. So we go from cheering
the red, white and blue to cheering the purple and black. Go Ravens!
Eric Kihn, President
